Getting from Hobart to Sydney is a route that is questioned by many travelers especially since Hobart lies on the southern island state of Tasmania. Getting from Hobart to Sydney by Car
Unfortunately, it’s not a possibility to drive from Hobart to Sydney directly. However, if you have a car, you could ferry it from the island of Tasmania to the mainland and proceed by road north to Sydney. One option is on the Spirit of Tasmania, which offers transfer (with car transfer on the table) from Devonport, Tasmania to Melbourne, Victoria. At this point, you can drive from Melbourne to Sydney, if you have the time, and I highly recommend any of the drives around Australia.

Getting from Hobart to Sydney by Bus
Being an island, you simply cannot take a bus from Hobart to Sydney. You can do the combination of ferry or flight to the mainland, followed by catching a bus the rest of the way, but this is only an option I recommend to those with lots of time. Australia is a deceptively large country, and a bus from Melbourne to Sydney will run you a good 12 hours via Greyhound.

Getting from Hobart to Sydney by Train
Just like the bus and car option, there is no way to do the trip from Hobart to Sydney by train. You would need to do a combination, such as taking the ferry from Devonport, Tasmania to Melbourne and proceeding north on CountryLink to Sydney. That train ride will last about 11 hours and cost in the $90 range one way. Trains, however, are a very comfortable method of travel, letting you watch the passing countryside, walk around and do work as necessary.
