Sydney- Belgian Beer Cafe
Epoch- Moooosels from Bruussellls!
There are 2 Belgian Beer Cafe’s in Sydney- One in Cammeray- (which was said by Australian Cosmo to have the most attractive eligible bachelors in all of Sydney) and one in The Rocks. They have beer bigger than your head and pots of mussels that just won’t stop. Please note…the Belgian Beer Cafe’s are not to be confused with the two Bavarian Beer Cafe’s also in Sydney… but they are a story for a different day.
I’ve got to say- I have never been a seafood fan – and certainly not adventurous sea food like mussels- but oh man!! Wee hoo- those were amazing! A fairly small place with wooden floors, low lights and private booths- the place is generally completely packed every night of the week. They offer several sizes of beer- but with the length of the line- the girls I was with realized it was to their advantage to just buy the biggest one they could lay their paws on.
Fueled by yummy creamy fried cheese balls- the group swilled our Belgian beers with gusto and dined merrily on the mussels- Mussels Provencal- with tomatoes onions and an herby broth….and oh yum!… Thai mussels- lemon grass and coconut themed broth. Through the good times and good vibes we made absolute pigs of ourselves. In sober afterthought we did realize that a single order would really be enough to feed two people that were not starved. That said several in our group did make it through their heaping steaming pots.
Two thumbs up an extremely merry place! The place is so popular, you might even see a few airline attendants there… as mentioned in BootsnAll’s new Travel Gear Blog!
