Judge to decide if Brit returns to WA to face assault charge

Justice authorities will consider fast-tracking the trial of an English backpacker if he is extradited to face charges over an assault in Broome in northern Western Australia.
Philip Johnson is due to appear at an extradition hearing in London next month over the bashing of Perth man Paul De Souza two years ago.

Johnson left Australia before facing the grievous bodily harm charge.
